Pre/Post Treatment Guideline: Feather Facial

Feather Facial Pre-treatment:

  • Accordingly, avoid use of Accutane for 6 months prior to treatment.

  • Additionally, avoid tanning beds, spray tans, and sun for a minimum of two weeks.

  • Furthermore, stop use of exfoliants (including Glycolic Acid), on treated area one week before treatment.

  • Also, stop the use of Retin – One week prior to the treatment.

  • Before treatment, shave the area closely the day of the treatment.

  • Besides this, avoid makeup on areas to be treated. Comparatively, if there is makeup on the treatment area, it shall be removed prior to the treatment.

  • Importantly, you cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding to receive treatment.

  • Patients who have a history of recurring cold sores (Herpes simplex type 1) should start oral Valtrex 500 mg tablets 2 days prior to your Genesis treatment and continue for 3 days after treatment.

Feather Facial post-care instruction

  • Emphatically, apply a cool pack (not frozen) to the treated site immediately after treatment. Eventually, cool packs are applied for 10 min with a 10 min interval for approximately 2 hours or needed during post-treatment.

  • Following treatment, moisturize with Aloe Vera gel or any light fragrance-free moisturizer, after the first 48 hours.

  • Use high-factor sunscreen, SPF 45 or higher. A good sunblock will contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide and will protect against both UVA and UVB rays.

  • Further, in the first 5 days following treatment, care should be taken to prevent trauma to the treated site. Thereafter, avoid hot baths, massage, and exercise.

  • Instead, Apply 1% hydrocortisone cream to the treated area every 12 hours for the first 48 hours.

  • Likewise, If scabs appear after blistering, they should be kept soft with a lubricating cream. Blistered or ulcerated skin may be treated with an antibiotic ointment or burn treatment cream.

  • Meanwhile, if bruising occurs, avoid picking at it. Picking can cause scarring. Moreover, once the scab falls off, the skin may be lighter, or darker. This usually resolves over a few months. There will be an obvious color difference from the unburned skin.

  • Nonetheless, Fillers or other injectables should not be done within 2 weeks before/after treatment, or at the discretion of the physician.

  • Henceforth, avoid using skin irritants, Retin-A, Benzyl Peroxide, Glycolic Acid, and astringents on the treated areas. Chemical peels are not recommended throughout the treatment series.

  • Significantly, don’t tan after treatment. Tanning after treatment may cause hyperpigmentation.
