After cleansing the skin and identifying the specific areas to be treated, an ultrasound gel is applied and the smooth handpiece is placed upon your skin. The focused ultrasound energy bypasses the surface of your skin and is delivered to pre-planned depths within the tissue below to stimulate collagen growth.

Comfort levels vary from patient to patient and can depend on the area treated as well. Your practitioner will discuss options for making the experience as pleasant as possible. The sensation you experience is associated with the focused ultrasound energy as it is deposited below the surface of the skin. It is noticeable just while the energy is being delivered and patients typically leave comfortable and excited about the benefits to come.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

You are able to return to your normal activities right away, and there are no special measures you need to take. Your skin may appear flushed immediately after the ultrasound treatment, but any redness should disappear within a few hours. It is not uncommon to experience slight swelling, or tingling/tenderness to the touch following the procedure, but these are mild and temporary in nature. There is the possibility for other less common post-procedural effects, such as temporary small areas of bruising or numbness, and other rare effects which your physician will review with you.

The laser energy passes harmlessly through the outer layer of your skin to target the tattoo ink directly. The laser fragments the ink into smaller components, which allows your body to absorb the ink and process it naturally.

On average, getting a professional facial once a month is ideal for someone who wants to take good care of their skin. That’s because the skin is a living organ, and it takes about 30 days for the cells to move up from the dermis to the surface, or epidermis, where they flatten out, die and slough off.

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. It is a big bright light that flashes on the surface of the skin. It’s mainly used for the removal of brown spots, acne and rosacea.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

Yes. IPL is a Flash Lamp Device and when the Light Flashes and hits the hair and damages the root follicle which prevents and reduces hair growth.

The main purpose of IPL is to Remove Brown Spots and in some cases it can help with the treatment of Rosacea and reducing of pores.

Facial Rejuventation can be done with IPL, once a month. The IPL Light can stimulate the pores and also promotes collagen growth. IPL can Rejuvenate and brighten the skin.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

In order to remove your brown spots you need anywhere from 1-3 treatments. You need the right intensity of heat from the light in order for the brown spot to be removed.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

It depends on your goals. If you want facial skin rejuvenation, then once a month is good. If you want to remove brown spots then 1-3 treatments should be sufficient.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

The difference between IPL and PhotoFacial is essentially the same thing. When you hear the word “PhotoFacial” being used, it simply means that an IPL is used for Facial Rejuvenation which makes the skin look brighter and clearer. IPL is more for brown spots and reducing red and improving acne.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

Yes. IPL is based on the Wavelength of light being used. Some IPL Treatments are better for the Treatment of Rosacea and Red Spots. Other IPL wavelengths are better the treatment of Brown Spots.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

There are only two reasons why IPL isn’t effective in removing brown spots.

1. The heat wasn’t enough to remove your brown spots

2. The brown spots are too light in color

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

You can use IPL on the face, the arms, the back of the hands, and the chest area.

The Brown Spots that are best for IPL photofacial, are freckle like brown spots. This is where the background of the spots are light and the actual brown spots are really dark.

4. Treated lentigines usually darken after treatment and crusting begins to form within a few days. This crusting usually resolves in 1 to 3 weeks. It should be allowed to naturally flake off.

5. If significant crusting occurs beyond the normal flaking of the treated lesions, an antibiotic ointment such as Polysporin or Bacitracin may be recommended.

6. Localized redness may be present and typically resolves within 24 to 48 hours.

7. If you do not need makeup for the evening or treatment, wait until the next morning.

There are a few conditions for which you should consider Spectra Toning. It can be a very effective tool for reducing the appearance of melasma, or areas of brown skin pigmentation usually brought on by hormonal shifts, such as pregnancy. Spectra Toning can also help reduce the appearance of other dark spots and lesions, as well as pores and fine wrinkles.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

There is no patient downtime associated with the Spectra Toning treatment. Most patients can return to their normal daily activities immediately after treatment. Take care to use a high SPF sunscreen on all treated areas and avoid direct sun exposure before and after treatment. Prolonged sun exposure can cause and exacerbate existing melasma, and sun exposure directly after laser treatment can increase the risk of hyper-pigmentation.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

This is a non-ablative laser procedure, which means the laser works without heating the surface of the skin. This translates to virtually no pain or downtime for the patient.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

The Spectra Toning treatment is a gradual process. Most patients will need to undergo 6-8 sessions before they begin to see results. Avoiding sun exposure before and after treatment can help to maximize and prolong results.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

The treatment is painless and it only takes about 10-15 minutes.

2. Do not wax 1 week prior to treatment or shave the day of treatment.
3. Patients with a history of cold sores/herpes simplex must be pre-treated with a prophylactic antiviral medication prior to treatment.
4. Avoid sunbeds or sun exposure prior to treatment. Sunscreen with Zinc Oxide 5% or more should be used as least 2 weeks prior to treatment.
5. Makeup should be avoided on the area to be treated for 4 hours prior to treatment if possible.
6. All medications must be checked for photosenstivity.

Following treatment, avoid sun exposure and apply a sunscreen containing at least 5% zinc one hour before going outdoors for at least two weeks. Pure aloe vera gel and cold compresses may be used for comfort and swelling. After 4 hours the skin may be cleansed with a gentle cleanser that is non-abrasive with out artificial fragrance, detergents, color or oils. Moisturize daily with a non-comodogenic moisturizer. Avoid the use of glycolic, retinols and toners for 5-7 days.

When dermal or epidermal lesions have been treated, patients are advised to avoid peeling off or damaging any scabbing that may occur and to let the scab fall off naturally. An antibiotic cream can be applied to the lesion until the crust falls off.

After treatment you can resume most or your usual activities as long as the treated area is not scratched or rubbed. Practice strict sun avoidance (by covering the treated area when you’re in the sun) until your skin has healed. 1. Shave all hair around the area to be treated. A half hour before treatment apply topical anesthetic. Do not take Aspirin, Aleve, Motrin (or other ibuprofen products).

2. Keep treated area out of the sun for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment. A minimum SPF30 or greater (UVA/UVB) should be used for any sun exposure during your treatments prior to going outside. Sunblock is preferred to sunscreen. KEEP IT COVERED if in the sun! Our clinic carries recommended sunblock – please talk to your technician.

3. Treatment can be scheduled no sooner than 6 weeks apart

4. To minimize any discomfort, we recommend that you take a Tylenol 30 minutes prior to the procedure.

5. Pain medications such as Motrin, Aspirin and Aleve thin blood and promote bruising and therefore should be avoided 3 to 7 days before treatment.

6. No Retin-A, Retinols, AHA’s or other topical acid products on skin.

7. Do not have your laser tattoo removal treatment done under the influence of alcohol or drugs. This can cause thinning of the blood, which can lead to increased bleeding and other more serious problems.

1. Apply Aloe cream twice a day to moisturize the area.
2. You can resume all of your normal activities except swimming (unless fully healed).
3. DO NOT POP BLISTERS or pick scabs. You risk infection and scarring if you do this.
4. Avoid the sun and tanning beds while you heal.
5. Wait between treatments as advised by your treating clinician.

The Thermage CPT procedure is designed especially for the face and the body; and is the first and only procedure cleared by the FDA for eyelids. Thermage can help contour skin safely on most body parts, including the face, eyes, tummy, arms, hands, knees, thighs and buttocks

With its latest new treatment parameters to treat the face with the Total Tip 3.0, practices and patients are reporting visible contouring and toning results off-the-table; and this immediate result continues to improve over time. Measurable smoothing and contouring improvements are seen over a two to six month time period following a single treatment session.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

Thermage is great to smooth, tighten and deep contour skin for an overall younger looking appearance without surgery or injections for the right person with little skin laxity.

Pros of Thermage: It is a single treatment, improvement is immediately visible and continues to improve for six months. No downtime; after the treatment, you can get back to normal routine. Thermage is color blind. Unlike lasers, Thermage procedures work on all skin types and colors. After Thermage, you don’t have to avoid the sun.

Cons of Thermage: May or may not see results right away, especially if you need more than usual tightening. Results are not always predictable. It is not a very pleasant procedure, as you may feel discomfort in the form of deep heat sensation.

Ultherapy is the only non-invasive treatment approved by the FDA for lifting the skin on the
neck, chin and brow. Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound to lift and tighten loose skin over
time, without any downtime.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

Ultherapy is the only non-surgical cosmetic procedure that uses focused ultrasound to stimulate the growth of new collagen deep within the skin. The production of new collagen occurs over time, so results can become more apparent over three to six months. The procedure takes only about an hour for most patients, and there is no downtime. It also is the only procedure to use ultrasound imaging, which allows us to actually see the layers of tissue we target during the treatment and ensure the energy is deposited precisely to where it will be most effective.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

A recent software upgrade called “Ultherapy Amplify” now affords a more comfortable procedure. While comfort thresholds vary from patient to patient, most patients now report that the procedure is quite tolerable. If and when any discomfort does occur, it happens while the ultrasound energy is being delivered. This sensation is temporary and is a positive signal that the collagen-building process has been initiated.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

Patients treated with Ultherapy still have fresh young collagen after a year’s time following the procedure, but skin continues to age. Future touch-up treatments can help keep pace with the aging process, which varies by individual.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

There may be slight redness for up to an hour or so following the treatment, and a small percentage of patients may have slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to touch, but these are mild and temporary in nature.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

The procedure has been cleared by the FDA after demonstrating safety in clinical studies, and over 100,000 treatments have been performed safely worldwide. In addition, ultrasound energy has a proven track record, with use in the field of medicine for more than 50 years.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

The majority of patients only need one treatment; however, some may benefit from more than one treatment depending on how much laxity they have and their body’s own biological response to the ultrasound and the collagen-building process.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

A good candidate for Ultherapy is someone with skin that has some degree of laxity, to the point of looking, and often feeling, less firm. A lowered eyebrow line or sagging skin on the eyelids, for instance, is often the first sign of “maturing” skin. Loose skin under the neck and under the chin signals a patient might be a candidate. Typically, those in their thirties and older who have mild to moderate skin laxity are candidates.

While Ultherapy is not a replacement for a surgical face lift, there are many people who want some lifting but are not ready for surgery, either mentally, physically or financially. There also are younger people who want to “stay ahead of the game” as well as those looking to prolong the effects of cosmetic surgery.

Collagen is a natural protein that gives skin its youthfulness by keeping it firmed and toned. As we age, collagen loses its strength and its ability to stand up to the effects of gravity that pull the skin downward. Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound to generate a thermal affect under the skin. The thermal affect essentially jumpstarts a repair process that strengthens existing collagen and produces fresh, new collagen.

To initiate CoolSculpting, we will position the device on your body. The device will then draw the bulge up between 2 cooling panels. The sensation is a very firm pull and quite a bit of pressure—enough of a pull to ensure the selected tissue will be cooled most efficiently. The device then slowly lowers the temperature, freezing the fat cells and numbing the area. After about an hour later, you’re done!

Chemical peels and lasers (Cosmelon, VI Peels, and Obagi fraxel lasers, CO2 lasers, and other fractionated lasers) are all possible treatments.
However, the melanocyte which is the cell that produces Melasma gets irritated by:
1. Heat
2. Peeling

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

It is unknown so far, but research has point to hormonal imbalance, stress, excessive heat, pregnancy, genetics, certain medications (such as antidepressants and blood pressure medications), inappropriate and unsupervised use of bleaching creams, and ultimately the damaging effects of sun exposure, which can dramatically increase Melasma.

Two factors to watch for when receiving treatments for Melasma:
1. Heat
2. Peeling

This is a problem easily corrected.   This is  caused by inadequate botox to the side of forehead ( brow elevators).  Just add a drop to each side of forehead will solve the problem (Taking care not to over treat or will drop the brow or lids).  Again our injectors are well trained in providing the most safe and effective results.

Anonymous   August 28, 2017

Contrary to popular belief, you can. As long as the area treated is not pressed during sleep, there is no spread to paralyze the muscle that lift your lid (Levator Palpebrae Superioris). If the lid did drop, Apraclonidine eye drop is prescribed. At this center, all injectors are trained to avoid this area to deliver safe and effective result.

(In the hands of best surgeon, across the country there is 3% droopy eyelids occurrence according to Carruthers, in Cosmetic Dermatology: Botulinum Toxin A).

Anonymous   August 28, 2017

This can be due to technique, migration of Botox to affect lid elevators located right above the mid pupil line (Levator Palpebrae Superioris) muscle. Avoid treating right above mid brow, or prevent icing which presses down and causes spread, this problem can be avoided. Another contributor to heavy eye lids (but not true droopy eye lid) is over treatment of forehead muscles (elevators) in older patients who already have inherent mild droopy eyelids. This can be avoided by using less Botox on forehead and more on furrow or crows (treating furrows and crows will open eye. Treating sides of forehead tends to make eyes a bit smaller. It is strongly suggested to avoid treating forehead alone in older patient with inherent heavy lids and always add furrows treatment (open eyes) at the same time.

Restylane is a clear gel produced with biotechnology using hyaluronic acid and water. Juvederm XC is administered by the physicians at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. It helps smooth out moderate to severe wrinkles that form around the nose and mouth from aging. Juvederm Voluma XC specifically targets loss of volume in the cheeks to provide a subtle lift and reduce the signs of aging.

Anonymous   August 28, 2017

Juvéderm Voluma XC results are immediate and very natural looking, so typically you may return to work or social activities immediately. However, sometimes transient side effects occur – in particular bruising – and mild swelling may develop by the next day, so you do need to consider this in your planning. This is especially true if you have never been treated before or if you are taking things which might increase your risk or the severity of bruising like baby aspirin, blood thinners, fish oil, etc. So discuss this with your physician.

» CoolSculpting is a non-surgical procedure that may take from one to several hours, depending on your customized treatment plan.

» No general/topical anesthesia or pain medication is required.

» As the procedure using a vacuum applicator is initiated, vacuum pressure draws tissue into an applicator cupbetween cooling panels. The vacuum pressure may cause sensations of deep pulling, tugging and pinching in the area being treated. A surface applicator may cause sensations of pressure.

» You also may experience intense stinging, tingling, aching or cramping. These sensations generally subside as the area becomes numb.

Anonymous   August 13, 2017

» Immediately after the procedure, your treated area may look or feel stiff and transient blanching (temporary whitening of the skin) may occur.

» You may feel a sense of nausea or dizziness as your body naturally warms and sensation returns to your treatment area. These are normal reactions that typically resolve within minutes.

» The treated area may be red for up to a few hours after the applicator is removed. This is an expected but temporary effect after the CoolSculpting procedure.

» Bruising, swelling and tenderness can occur in the treated area. This typically resolves within a week or two.

» Nausea and tingling, stinging and cramping in the treatment area are often reported on treatment day.

» You may feel a temporary dulling of sensation in the treated area. This is normal and typically resolves within a few hours but may last for several weeks after your procedure.

» There typically is minimal recovery time after the CoolSculpting procedure. Most patients are able to return to their daily routine immediately after the procedure.

» It is common for the treated area to feel bloated and look swollen in the first few days and weeks after the CoolSculpting procedure.

» You may experience a temporary dulling of sensation that can last for several weeks.

» At some point within the first two weeks following the procedure, you may experience one or more of the following sensations: deep itching, tingling, numbness, tenderness to the touch, pain in the treated area, strong
cramping, diarrhea, muscle spasms, aching and/or soreness. Consult your doctor if these conditions persist beyond two weeks or worsen over time.

» If in pain, take Tylenol. If unable to sleep, take Tylenol PM or Benadryl for itching. Use as directed.

» Following the procedure, a gradual reduction in the thickness of the fat layer will take place. You may start to see changes as early as three weeks after the CoolSculpting procedure and you will experience the most dramatic results after one to three months. Your body will continue naturally to process the injured fat cells from your body for approximately four months after your procedure.

» In rare cases, patients have experienced vasovagal symptoms during the treatment, and reported freeze burn, darker skin color, hardness, discrete nodules or enlargement of the treated area. Surgical intervention may be required to correct the enlargement.
